| The Filofax story began in 1923 when Norman & Hill first introduced a simple and effective method of holding loose-leaf papers together in a leather covered binder. During World War II, the company's premises were bombed and destroyed in the Blitz. Norman & Hill would not have survived without the foresight of one remarkable woman, Grace Scurr. Grace had joined the company as a temporary secretary in 1923 and created her own personal 'file of facts' listing supplier and customer details. She faithfully carried it home every night and if it were not for this, the company would not have been back in business the following day.
